Thursday
Meet Linda
For our first Thursday, allow me to introduce Linda who among many things is the mother of Style for Grace founder, Aimee LaLiberte. If you visited our site, particularly the about page, you will learn that Linda has amazing sewing skills and is one of the inspirations behind Style for Grace.
Linda was the first female police officer in Troy, NY. Although she doesn't view this as a major accomplishment, I most certainly disagree! In fact, when she was in the police academy, I recall the media constantly visiting our house; obviously others were interested in her story too!
While fighting crime was her full-time job for over 10 years, Linda's true passion was sewing. She learned this amazing trade at an early age through the 4-H program at her school. As her daughter, I recall countless memories at the fabric store browsing pattern books and shopping for fabric, sequins, sewing machines and even thread! The idea of taking materials and making something truly unique never got old for me.
Linda (aka my mom) inspires the dress that is indicative of 60s mod fashion. What Linda loves about the dress is its versatility. Because Style for Grace is a design-your-own dress center, Linda loves using dresses to compliment the personality of the girl wearing it. Linda says, "I think the Linda dress is great for girls of all ages. When my three daughters were younger, I tried to find them similar clothing that matched but captured their personalities."
To get to know Linda just a little better she completed the mini questionnaire below. As her daughter, I was quite surprised by some of her responses.
